Not too long after Wild, there's another hiking movie coming out. Who knew there could be so many? This time it's A Walk In The Woods.

All joking aside, my wife and I LOVE this book. I fear that the movie will in no way do the book justice.

With the release of A Walk In The Woods coming soon, many expect usage of the Appalachian Trail to soar, for better or worse. I would hope that a lot of people realize that there are hundreds, if not thousands of other trails that they could visit if they feel the need without adversely affecting this one.

The article's description of how the makers of the movie went to great pains to remain true to the book gives me hope. We'll see!

I saw A Walk In The Woods today. Meh.

The movie is not must see. The book, on the other hand, is a must read.

Here's a Bill Bryson interview where he talks about his book, the movie and walking or hiking in general.

I agree - the book was awesome - the movie wasn't

Thanks: 1 times
Yeah, the book was funny, but IIRC Bryson was flamed by the AT thru-hiking community for "stolen valor" because it was all made-up fiction. He never earned his stripes.
Happy Trails!
