Comments: Cinco de mayo! First of all, the drive from Austin to Fredricksburg was magnificent. The winding roads and scenery was breathtaking but WOW it was a long drive. I would suggest planning on staying the night in Fredricksburg or at the rock. The town has some great shopping, food and cold beer! As usual I took the family and we had a little picnic on the top. Careful with your trash though it's very windy so be sure and take a backpack or something to quickly stuff you trash into. The plants and wildlife are plentiful. Be sure and check out the history of the place inside the check-in station. It's a great hike I look forward to going back and doing the full loop and having an overnight stay.
