Started at Twin Falls, to Hill of Life (up & down) and back to Twin Falls. Lots of folks on this beautiful Saturday morning; hiking, running, biking - humans & pets alike! Fun!

This has become a b-day tradition - taking a day off from the office and going to explore the good old hike & bike trail. I usually start at Deep Eddy or under MoPac bridge, cross to the south bank, cross again on Pleasant Valley bridge, and get back to Depp Eddy. The new boardwalk was not open yet when I did my 2014 loop (that was in February), but I read online it will be open June 2014. I love this trail; it was the first I hiked when I came to Austin back in 2002 and it's always nice to come back, even just for a short section, either for a run or a ride or a walk!

More trash than I expected....picked up a couple of aluminum cans. Started at the tiny parking lot on Old Spicewood Springs Rd. (were the bathrooms are) and went down all the way to the Lakewood trailhead and back.
Hill of Life packed on a sunny January Sat.

No wonder solitude is rated 1 today, as the Hill of Life and the upper falls were packed with people and their dogs on this sunny Sat. after a very cold start of the new year. Introduced the hill to my 13 yrs old and she did the way back up with some minor complaints :-). On the way down we looked for a geocache off main trail which was fun. Try the trails that go off to the right. Great single trek for bikes!
Beautiful loop trail. Recommended!

Beautiful trail, and so close to Austin! This was my first and I will definitely come back for the rest of it. Did only 6 miles in and back (12 total) this morning. We started at the Cedar Breaks trailhead and went clockwise. Yesterday was a snow day so when we started around 9:30am we still had some snow on the ground and some of the falls were frozen! The drawback was that on the way back it all became muddy :-) We were alone for most of the time; only when we headed back afternoon we saw a few hikers and couple of families. Note that my rating referrs only to the first 6 miles clockwise. Will come back for the whole loop in spring.
